About Us

Our Story

Cultivating Disciples International was founded by Weston and Destiny in 2022. They met in 2020, discovered that they had several commonalities, including a love for outdoors and a calling in the mission field. They knew quickly that they would be pursuing marriage and became prayerful for direction on ministry opportunities together. They each were drawn to the continent of Asia and eventually received clarity about the details. The Lord’s voice has been gentle and clear, from the very beginning.

In 2018, Destiny went to Haiti for a short term mission trip and was greatly transformed by the community. Life took on a different meaning, knowing what people all around the world were facing. Simple privileges such as taking a shower became significant, knowing many people didn’t have running water. The Lord had given her a burden. For three years she constantly petitioned the Lord for a specific people group to reach, but the Lord remained silent and with this, she struggled.

On the other hand, Weston had served on a short-term construction mission trip in St. Louis and still yearned to return to the field. He didn’t think the opportunity would ever come back up and unlike Destiny, had tried to be content with that. When they met, Destiny was still on fire for missions and managed to fit it into most conversations. Those conversations reignited this spark in Weston and it became very obvious that they had been waiting on each other all along. It makes sense now that the Lord was silent before.

Once the puzzle pieces came together, the answers were easy to attain. God had orchestrated it all and revealed the specific location where we should focus. Destiny and Weston are excited to immerse themselves in the culture of Southeast Asia, while making community a priority. Following the model Jesus gave, they intend to make community and fellowship a priority. That being said, they aim to have long-term influence in the area, with the goal of making genuine disciples who then are equipped to disciple those after them.

Our Mission

Did you catch that? He didn’t call us to go tell everyone the gospel and leave them with it. He asked us to make disciples. We are passionate about empowering people to ask questions about following Jesus, sacred text, and maybe even questions they have struggled with for years that have prevented them from putting their faith in Christ. We are excited to grow alongside our brothers and sisters and train them to train others so that all may hear.

This will require a lot of fellowship and a lot of discussion, and will most likely not yield quick conversions. But that’s okay because God asked us to make disciples. We want to teach others how to live like Jesus while he is teaching us. Part of this includes taking care of their needs. Jesus says “if you have done it for the least of these you have done it unto me.” It would be wrong to come into an area where there are obvious needs and expect people to hear and receive the gospel without us first showing them the love of Christ and using the resources we have to help and teach them how to care for others.
